Early C18. Brown brick with red brick dressings, No 16, painted pink and with
dormer window in slate mansard roof, No 18, weatherboarded attic in pantiled roof.
3 storeys, baserc:ent and attic, 3 windows each. No 16 segmental arches to windows
with flush frames and glazing bars. No 18, added stucco flat topped architraves
to windows set in reveals, some glazing bars. Coupled flood doorcases with fluted
Doric pilasters, carved brackets, enriched cornice and panelled reveals, and soffit
to hood. Area railings.

The Great Synagogue forms a group with Nos 1 to 39 (odd), Nos 2 to 20 (even)
and No 84 (The Ten Bells Public House) and with Christ Church, Commercial
Street, and Nos 57 & 59 Brick Lane, and No 2 Wilkes Street.
