18th Century Headstone, St Mary's Church

GV II

Headstone. C.1770. Portland stone. Scrolled top contains a relief of a cherub hovering over a flaming urn, with swags to either side. The relief os emblematic of the immortality of the soul. The upper part of the inscription, in Gothic lettering, reads 'Sacred to the Memory of'; unfortunately the identity of the recipient of the monument is unrecorded.
