BRAMPFORD SPEKE
SX 99 NW
3/16 The Agricultural Inn
-
- II
Former public house, C18, possibly with earlier core, with C19 and early-C20
modifications. Cob, rendered, on stone plinth, under a slate roof, hipped to
street end, gabled-end to left-hand. 2 storeys. 2 components: right-hand
sections with axial and rear external lateral stack, 2 windows to each storey at
front, with door to left; one small window to rear, none to gable end. Second
unit, lower and brought out slightly, with only 2 upper-storey windows to front.
Inn-sign pole, wrought-iron, lamps over street. The public house rooms, retain
their late-C19 organisation of panelled partitions, and early-C20 bar, but the
panelling itself looks earlier, with plain and fielded panels; glass partitions
above. Interior not entirely inspected.
