Farm Cottages

Farmhouse, now two dwellings. Early C17. Colourwashed render
over coursed slatestone rubble; mid C19 gabled slate roof;
rendered stone left end stack finished in mid C19 machine brick;
similar lateral stack to centre of front wall; C19 brick right
end stack. 3-unit plan with cross passage to left of central
hall. 2 storeys; 4-window range. C17 panelled door set in ovolo
and cyma-moulded wood architrave. Timber lintels over late C19
and C20 one to 3-light casements with glazing bars; mid C19
two-storey extension projects at right angles to front left.
Interior of house to left: back of C17 plank and stud partition
to left; C17 winder stairs; C17 stop-chamfered doorframe to rear;
C17 plank door reset in C19 extension to rear. Interior of house
to right: early C17 front door opens onto cross passage, which is
flanked by early C17 plank and muntin partitions with ogee stops
to ovolo-moulded muntins. Boxed beams in room to right. Feet of
A-frame trusses visible at first-floor level.
