1/160 North Wyke Lodge

GV II

Lodge to North Wyke (q.v.). 1904, presumably by Fellows Prynne who was responsible
for the extensive renovation of the main house. Snecked Cocktree stone with granite
ashlar quoins and detail; Cocktree stone stack and chimneyshaft with granite
coping; slate roof.
Plan: L-shaped house facing south-east onto the drive to North Wyke. The main
block is gable-end to the front. It is 2 rooms deep with a projecting lateral stack
on the right side. 1-room plan wing projecting at right angle to right of rear room.
Entrance hall and stairs in the angle of the 2 wings. 2 storeys. Tudor style.
Exterior: gable-end front of main block has a ground floor 3-light and first floor
2-light granite-mullioned windows with hoodmoulds and labels carved with the
elements from the Wyke arms. All the gables have shaped kneelers and coping. To
right and set back is the gabled entrance hall and stair block. It contains a Tudor
arch doorway with hoodmould and panelled door. Above it is a sandstone plaque
carved with the Wyke arms and above that a plaque with the initials of the Reverend
Wykes-Finch. Windows on other sides are also granite mullioned.
Interior not inspected.
This lodge is a part of the general improvement of the property associated with the
refurbishment of North Wyke (q.v.).
