House and house with shop on ground floor. Mid C19. Roughcast on a
rubble core, slate roof hipped to the right, tall rendered stack which is to the
right.
Plan and development: No.21 a symmetrical house with a central lobby entrance with
staircase, room to each side, No.23 an attached house of similar plan but at right-
angles to the street.
Exterior: 2 storeys, asymmetrically spaced 4 first floor windows, C19 12-pane sash
windows with exposed sash boxes, thin glazing bars, wood cills. Door opening to
left of ground floor, mid C19 4-panelled door with a transom light, ledge porch on
mid C19 ornamental cast-iron brackets. Shop front to right of ground floor, early
to mid C19, large 3-pane window half-glazed door to right, wooden pilasters flanking
the whole with a fascia and ledge cornice. Further C20 door opening inserted to the
left of the ground floor. Occupies a prominent corner position.
Interior: No.21 with left ground floor room, now converted to a shop with a
fireplace in reeded stone surround, cupboard in chimneybreast alcove with door
removed. The rest of the interior was not seen.
