5/58 Rowton Lane Farmhouse.

GV II

Farmhouse: early C17 with early C18 refacing in brick and addition.
Originally timber framed on stone plinth now English garden wall bond
orange brick. Welsh slate roof and 3 brick chimneys. 2-room baffle
entry house. 2-storey, 5-bay east front. Lower windows are 3 or
2-light wooden casements under segmental brick heads. 2nd and 3rd
bays have doors, under similar heads. One of 3 boards. Right 3 bays
have a raised band at 1st floor and there"are 3 2-light casements
above.
Interior: entry against baffle of inglenook fire with chamfered
bressumer and a bacon cupboard beyond. Chamfered ceiling beams with
fillet and flat stops. Oak staircase with square newels and heavy
handrail but no balusters. Addition at south end has the base stone
of an early C19 cheese press in situ.
