Railings, walls, gateposts and gate piers. Early C18 and C19. Wrought-iron
railings, sandstone ashlar gate piers, coursed rubble walls. At north end
of front railings, C18 ashlar pier with banded rustication to front and
back, and cornice (top overgrown with ivy and not visible). Low wall with
canted coping supporting plain railings with pointed bars, interrupted in
centre by 2 smaller gateposts, circular in plan and shaped like cannon, and
with ball finials. Modern wrought-iron gate not of special interest. The
corresponding large gate pier at the south end of the railings only survives
in its lowest courses, the rest having been replaced during the remodelling
of the south-east wing. Included for group value.
