NZ 10 NW DALTON THE COTTAGES

2 cottages. Early-mid C18. Sandstone rubble with ashlar dressings, Welsh
slate roof with stone slates at eaves. Single storey, 5 windows. Chamfered
rusticated ashlar quoins. Between third and fourth windows, board door (to
No 2) in ashlar architrave with pulvinated frieze and pediment. 4-pane sash
windows in ashlar architraves with tripartite keystones, the fourth and
fifth at a lower level. Shaped kneelers, ashlar coping. Brick stacks at
ends and to right of third window. No 2 includes lower bay to right, not of
special interest. Entry to No 1 in lean-to porch to left with board door.
Probably the ground floor of a larger house.
