1/76 Wall, gate and screen of
railings before Salters
Well House

GV II

Wall, gateway and railings. Mid C19. Red sandstone ashlar and cast
iron. Low wall surmounted by railings. Front: two courses of
massive stone blocks with rounded coping to top. The iron work has
panels of entwined S-scrolls divided by rectangular panels with
central flower motifs. The central gates have similar mouldings to
their upper bodies and star mouldings to their lock and dog rails and
central star motifs to their lower bodies with square bars radiating
from these. The gate piers and terminating piers to the screen are
rectangular panels containing elongated Greek key motifs and with
ramped shoulders supporting doubled anthemia as finials.
