SW 7525 MANACCAN HELFORD

7/71 Hope Cottage

GV II

House and adjoining cottage, now 1 house. C18 and circa early-mid C19. House is
painted cob over a rubble base, cottage is rubble with some granite dressings.
Asbestos slate roofs except scantle slate lean-to porch of cottage. House roof
steeper, formerly thatched. Brick chimneys over gable ends.
Plan of single cell C19 cottage, left, and 2 room C18 house, right, originally with
central cross passage. Converted into one house in the C20.
2 storeys. Overall 3-window front. Regular 1-window cottage, left, with C20 lean-to
porch with doorway at left and symmetrical 2-window house, originally with central
doorway now with window. Old, possibly original 12-pane horizontal sliding sashes to
first floor, otherwise 2-light casements.
Interior not inspected.
Part of a group of C18 and early C19 houses at the head of the creek at Helford.
