House with capstan house (now part of dwelling). C18. Rubble stone walls,
exposed on south-west and south-east gables. Other faces whitewashed. North-
west gable end stone base with whitewashed brick walls (later alteration).
Slurried slate roof with gabled ends and hipped gable to south-east (towards
sea). Brick stacks. T-shaped plan. Main block running north-west to south-
east with projecting wing in centre on south-west. Capstan house occupied
south-east limb. Entrance with C18 panelled door in angle on north-west facade.
12-pane horizontal sliding sash window to right with 12-pane casement window
directly above. Ground and first floor openings of capstan house altered and
C20 casement windows and glazed door with glazing bars have been inserted.
Brick chimney stacks on gable ends to north-west and south-west. Ground floor
rooms on north-west and south-west with intact C18 joinery and bowtell moulded
ceiling beams. C18 doors. Capstan house interior remodelled and capstan has
been removed. Capstan house was used by a C19 pilchard fishing company. A
raised sloping stone rubble slipway leads down from the old capstan house to the
beach (qv).
