Description

SW 63 NW CROWAN CLOWANCE

1/137 Cartshed at SW629303 (north of
- Clowance Barton Farmhouse)

GV II

Cartshed. Circa early C19. Granite rubble with dressed granite quoins and 2 dressed
granite columns. Hipped scantle slate roof.
Rectangular plan with 3 solid walls and open to the south, the 3 bay roof partly
carried on columns, possibly reused. The building is probably an adaption of an
older building as the different masonry at either side of the open front indicates.
Single storey. 3-bay open south front. Tapered granite monolith columns with
separate moulded bases and short column extensions of caps supporting wooden
wallplate bearing pads.
An interesting cartshed near other good quality farm buildings at Clowance Barton,
the principal farm of the Clowance estate.
