6/137 Smythencott Farm

Small house. Circa early C18 with C20 addition and alterations. Rendered cob
walls. Thatch roof-hipped to left end gabled to right. Stack at either gable-end,
brick to the left, projecting rendered rubble with brick shaft to the right.
Plan: originally 2-room plan, smaller unheated room to the left which had stack
inserted. Partition between the 2 rooms removed in C20 and stairs inserted. C20
rear 1 storey addition. Exterior: 2 storeys. Regular 2-window front of C20 2 and
3-light casements. Thatch roof open fronted C20 porch to left of centre with glazed
door behind. Small C18 or C19 outbuilding against right gable-end wall. C20 single
storey rear addition.
Interior: right-hand fireplace has rough wooden lintel and cloam oven.
Insubstantial straight principal rafters.
