Cottage. Late C17. Whitewashed plastered cob and stone rubble; thatched roof,
gabled at ends; right end projecting stack.
Plan: Single depth 2 room plan with a principal heated room to the right with a
stair adjacent to the stack and a narrow unheated room to the left, entrance on
front into unheated room, which has been divided in the C20 between a bath room and
entrance lobby. Single-storey C20 slate-roofed lean-to at right end.
Exterior: 2 storeys. Asymmetrical 2 window front, the eaves thatch eyebrowed over
the first floor windows; gabled C20 porch on front at left. Fenestration of C19
and C20 small-pane timber casements. Rear elevation blind except for a small C20
window lighting the bathroom.
Interior: Chamfered scroll-stopped crossbeam to heated room; C20 fireplace probably
concealing earlier lintel and jambs.
Roof: Not inspected at time of survey (1986).
An attractive small C17 cottage forming a group with the adjacent West Park Cottage
(qv) which is approximately parallel to it at the rear, the 2 houses are extremely
close together.
