House, set back from street, attached to adjoining gable to right. C18,
possibly earlier. Rendered rubble or cob, thatched roof. Plan not clear; at
some stage was two cottages, possibly built as such, now has smaller room to
left of baffle entry, with corner fireplace opposite corner stair, and larger
room, right, at lower level, gable fireplace. Two storeys; ground floor has 1+2
4-pane sashes separated by 4-panel flush C19 door set in deep reveals. First
floor has 2-light glazing bar casements, left and right, and small 2-light, with
horizontal bars to right of door. Back has door at mid-height flanked to left
by 2-light glazing bar casement, and lean-to outhouse to right; C20 glazed
conservatory porch. Hipped roof, large eaves stack to front, left, smaller
stack, raised in brick, right; back slope of roof at eaves has some slate.
Interior: retains two spiral wood staircases, that to left with stone bottom
tread, built into and off the rock; the building is set back into the rick
slope. Lean-to slate and rubble wing, forward, left.
