House. Late C18/early C19. Colourwashed rendered cob and stone main range, left end
wing partly brick; thatched roof, gabled at ends; left end stack and 2 rear lateral
stacks to main range, all with brick shafts.
Plan: Single depth main block, 2 rooms wide with a central entrance; 1 room plan
service block at left end on the same axis as the main block.
Exterior: 2 storeys and attic, the service block single storey, 1:3 window front with
regular fenestration, the main block symmetrical with a C20 half-glazed front door
and C18 or C19 sash windows, 10 over 5 panes to left and right, a smaller 8 over 4
pane sash above the front door with one attic window in the thatch. The service
block at the left end with one 10 over 5 pane sash and a C20 plastic window
introduced in the left return.
Interior: Not inspected.
An attractive roadside house, formerly a Powderham Estate house. Group value with
other thatched houses in South Town.
