St Leonard's House

GV II

Fairly large town house. Late C18. Early C19 incised stucco to
front with vermiculated quoins and ground-floor window
surrounds with stepped voussoirs, moulded door and 1st-floor
window architraves; steep rag slate roof with wooden modillion
eaves cornice and central triangular pediment. Deep plan
including rear wing on left. 2 storeys; symmetrical 2:1:1-bay
5-window front. Late C19 two-pane horned sashes. Central bay
broken forward; wide coved and moulded round-arched doorway
with spoked fanlight and 6-panel door with flush-beaded bottom
panels. Rear has deep C18 three-storey wing with many old
windows. Carriageway has C17 granite column pier on right set
into wall of No.6 (not included). INTERIOR: not inspected but
likely to be of interest.
