Description

SP 0937 BROADWAY CP HIGH STREET (north side)
8/45 No 60
30.7.59
GV II
Shop. Mid-C18. Limestone ashlar with stone slate roof. Two storeys with
attic, four bays. Moulded eaves cornice. Windows are of two lights with
flat-faced mullions which have edge-roll mouldings, and C20 metal casements
with leaded glazing. The outer bays on the ground floor have mid-C20 bowed
shop fronts on stone bases. Four attic dormers. Doorway, in third bay,
has moulded surround. Coped gables. Chimney at left with weathered offset
and cyma cornice. The west wall has a rebated and chamfered mullioned
window of late C17 type lighting a rear wing. A continuous plinth suggests
that the wing is of the same build as the gable of the front range: the window
may be re-used. Interior: not fully accessible at time of survey (November
1986). Some ceiling beams exposed on ground floor.
