House. C17 and late C18, restored c1900. Limestone rubble with stone
slate roof. Two storeys. Two bays to each side of doorway. Windows have
plain reveals, keyed lintels, and timber casements of three lights with
transom and leaded glazing. Above the doorway is a blind recess with
round head, plain stone surround, impost blocks, and keystone. The six-
panelled door has a quoined surround, transom light, and a projecting
timber hood on iron brackets. Gables coped. Chimneys, on gables and to
right of first and third bays, have moulded weatherings and cornices.
The south gable wall has a two-storey square stone bay window of late C19
or early C20 date. To its left a rear wing has C17 rebated and chamfered
mullioned windows. A parallel rear wing has similar mullioned windows,
mainly of c1900. A blocked first floor doorway in its gable wall suggests
that it was once an agricultural building. Between the wings is a stair
turret with windows renewed c1900. Interior: chamfered and stopped ceiling
beams. In the middle room is an inglenook with a bressummer supported on
C20 carved stone columns. The dog-leg stair has an open string, turned
newels, stick balusters, and a ramped handrail.
