ST 77 SE COLD ASHTON C.P. LEIGH LANE (west side)

Farmhouse, now house. C17, possibly with earlier origins, C19 and C20 alterations
and additions. Rubble with stone dressings, rendered to left, triple-roll tiled
roof with raised coped verges and kneelers, double Roman tiled rear block, ridge
stacks. Former 3-room plan. 2½ storeys and 5 windows, ground floor has four
3-light casements with ovolo-moulded mullions and hood mould, 2nd bay from right
has plank door with stone bolection-moulded surround, first floor has four 2-light
casements with moulded mullions, single light window in same surround over door,
2 dormer gables each with 2-light casement as at first floor, all windows C19
casements; single storey bakehouse attached to left has 2-light window with
square mullion and moulded jambs. Left return has single light window at first
floor with moulded jambs and 2-light attic window with moulded mullion as at first
floor front. Right return has at ground floor a 3-light casement with ovolo
mullions and hood mould, 2-light casement at first floor with bolection-moulded
surround recessed from flat architrave, attic has 2-light casement with moulded
mullion and frame. Rear has catslide roof over service rooms behind rear passage,
2-light window with wood frame, flat mullion and iron stanchions to left, single
light above in plain surround, weathered external stack, single storey block with
pitched roof attached to catslide roof with double door and C19 3-light casement.
Interior: passage running along rear of house, C19 straight stair rising from
passage.
