Also known as: No.39 CASTLEGATE.
2 houses, now 3 shops.Late C18, with mid and late C19 and late
C20 alteratons. Colourwashed brick with pantile roof. rebated
eaves, wooden gutter on brackets, single gable and single
ridge stacks. 4 storeys; 5 window range. Central blank flanked
to left by a blocked window and 2 plain sashes and to right by
a smaller plain sash and 2 glazing bar sashes. Above, central
blank flanked to left by a smaller plain sash, a blocked
window and then an altered plain sash and to right a smaller
blocked window, then 2 glazing bar sashes. All these windows
have segmental heads. Above again, 5 glazing bar sashes with a
blocked opening between the right pair. Below, to left, late
C20 metal and plastic shopfront with recessed double glazed
door to left and 2 single pane windows to right, under
continuous fascia. To right, altered late C19 wooden shopfront
with dentillated cornice. Central recessed glazed door with
single pane window to left and 3-light window to right. To the
right of the shop window, a small casement.
