Description

OZLEWORTH BLACKSMITH HILL
ST 79 SE
(west side)
5/142 Bulk Farm
II

Former farmhouse, now separate from farm buildings. Probably
originally a cottage of C18, enlarged in mid C19 and at one time a
school. Roughcast faced rubble stone, slate roof with coped
verges and stone end stacks. T-shape range of 2 storeys and
attic, with single storey wing to left probably a former dairy.
Two gables to front, each with coped verge, saddlestone and ball
finial, and single light over two 2-light ovolo moulded stone
mullions, all with square hoodmould and lattice iron casements.
Similar central 2-light on first floor over projecting small gabled
porch with chamfered rounded cornered opening and vertical battened
inner door with one C20 glazed panel. Single-storey wing has one
2-light without hoodmould and stable door to right. L-shape lean-
to partly open to rear on left hand side. Rear wing much restored
although ground floor probably contains some of oldest section.
Interior has most original beams, some chamfered and stopped on
ground floor, and one large open timber bressumer fireplace on
ground floor to left end stack. Deep well to rear.
