Small country house c1850 blue lias squared rubble with ashlar dressings and plain
tile roofs. Jacobean style. 2 storey and attic. 5 window main front with projecting
centre, gabled with corner finials, 3-light mullion and transom 1st floor window and
Jacobean style arched doorway with carved spandrels. Round arched inner doorway. To
each side are mullion and transom 2-light windows with hood-moulds to both floors.
Sill band at 1st floor. Heavily corbelled parapet with balustrade broken for 2 stone
dormers with shouldered gables. At North end a cluster of 4 diagonal stone chimney
stacks. South, garden, front of 3 irregular gables the first with a 3-light 1st floor
mullion and transom window, the second with a projecting 2 storey canted bay and the
3rd plainer with 2-light windows to ground and 1st floors. Adjoining is a stone,
timber and glass lean-to conservatory, the stone piers with finials. To the rear
lower L plan service winge with bellcote and large square stone turret. Built for E G
Stone.
