II
Farmhouse and hind's cottage. C18 with early C19 alterations. Rendered with
ashlar dressings, and brick gable patching at raised roof line; Welsh slate
roof with brick chimneys and stone gable copings. 2 storeys, 4 windows. Early
C20 gabled wooden porch to right of centre;irregular fenestration, with late
C19 sashes flanking porch on ground floor, and 4 on first floor, all with
projecting stone sills. Steeply-pitched swept roof has end brick chimneys.
Left return gable has massive square stack between houses and 2-bay rear outshut
under catslide roof; chimney and narrower rear outshut in similar style at right
part of house; rear lower infill with pent roof between outshuts, and wooden
porch on right outshut.
Interior: hind's cottage comprises right outshut and first-floor right room,
and has stair from outshut. Main house has near-central enclosed stair, with
half landing and short flights of steps to left and right rear passages, with
first-floor rooms symmetrically arranged. Massive chimney breast in ground-
floor left room now papered over. Corner cast-iron chimney-pieces in outshuts.
