Church. c1893 by C. Harrison-Townsend with frescoes by Mrs Lea Merritt, paid
for by Sir William Roberts-Austin. Cement rendered with ashlar dressings and
brick decoration, pantiled roof. Rectangular plan. Low, single storey
building with two heavy gabled and louvred dormers to each side. Nave and
chancel with vestry house to east end. Bellcote under eyebrow dormer gable.
Two round arched openings over the cornice and lower arched opening to east.
Four round arched leaded windows in deep splayed reveals and under brick tile
heads. Buttresses to west end either side of the round arched west doors in
a deep panelled reveal. Double doors panelled and part glazed. Round chapel
to north, part boarded vestry to east with half-glazed door in west face and
truncated stack above.
Interior:- Nave and chancel all in one under barrel vaulted ceiling. Wood
block floor. Three large arches to each side with gilded impost string courses
to windows and marble inlay above in the spandrels. Painted frescoes from the
life of Christ including the raising of the daughter of Jainis, the
Garden of Gethsemene and the Resurrection from the Tomb. Massive round arch
to east end with round niche on north side of chancel with gilt ceiling
showing the Holy Spirit in the form of a dove. Screen to east end with thin
turned balusters and festoon cornice over. Oval marble font with bowl on
hexagonal stem.
