SS 80 NW SANDFORD EAST VILLAGE

GV II


2 cottages, now house. C17, renovated in late C19. Plastered cob on rubble
footings; rubble stacks topped with C19 brick; thatched roof. Former pair of 2-
room cottages facing south with outshots to rear. Central cob dividing wall and
end stacks. Oaklands Cottage (q.v.) attached to right (east) end. 2 storeys. 4-
window front of late C19 4-pane sashes with C20 front door right of centre. Large
projecting stack in left (west) gable end. Interior has mostly late C19 features
exposed. Left cottage has now single ground floor room and right cottage has C19
stair. Right room has axial chamfered beam with scroll stops and large rubble
fireplace with plain oak lintel and brick side oven. Each half has 2-bay roof and
A-frame trusses with pegged lap-jointed collars.
