GREAT HARWOOD BARN

Barn. Late C17 with C18 alterations and C19 end bay to east and added pig sties
to north. Timber-framed, clad in weatherboarding on brick base with peg tiled
roof, half-hipped to west and hipped to east. Central double cart doors. 5 bays.
Angled queen strut roof. No ridge piece. Through purlins. Cut profile to jowled
posts. Midrail to wall frame and some diagonal tension braces. 4th bay to east
has queen post roof. East wall renewed in later C19 when the lean-to pig sties
were added to the north. Some later diagonal braces.
