SX 86 NW TORBRYAN TORBRYAN HAMLET

Pair of cottages, probably a single house originally. Possible C16, remodelled
late C18 or early C19; C20 lean-to on right-hand gable. Rendered stone or cob.
Slated roof. Two chimneys in rear wall, the northern one projecting with offset.
2 storeys. Lyndale (to left) has 2-window front with centre doorway having slated
pent roof above it; four-panel door, the two lower panels flush. Wayside has
irregular fenestration, two windows in ground storey, one in second storey.
Doorway to left of gable (fronting the road) has bead-moulded wood frame and plank
door, having in front of it a half-door on strap-hinges; pent room above. All
windows have C20 casements. Interior: both cottages have chamfered ceiling-beams
without stops. The beam over the dividing partition has three-quarter-round
mouldings. Several plank doors with strap hinges. Other features probably
concealed under plaster.
