Large and irregular mansion of various dates. Probably incorporates
parts of C15 house, but externally now mainly Georgian. Red sandstone
wing running East-West is probably late C17, with C18 sash windows and
two round turrets. The main block of the house runs at right angles to
this, is built of red brick, of C18 dates, mainly 2 storeys and basement,
6, 7, 6 sashes, with the centre raised in 1912. The South end of the
East wing has a 2-storeyed collonade (Doric and lonic) added in 1732,
with balustraded parapet on top, with Derby arms.
