2/76 Drake chest tomb and railings about
- 8 metres south west of the porch of
the Church of the Holy Cross
GV II
Chest tomb,and railings. Probably mid/late C19. Stone rectangular chest with corner
pilasters, oversailing moulded coped lid and panels on the sides and ends with sunk
mouldings. Inscription on the north side commemorates Thomas Drake, date of death
covered by ivy. The chest is surrounded by good railings with reeded verticals with
fishtail finials. The corner verticals are columnar with urn finials.
One of a number of memorials in the churchyard complete with railings which are a
significant feature of Cruwys Morchard churchyard.
