GV II

Aisled barn. C16, altered C17 and C20. Built as a fully
timber-framed structure in the C16, encased in stone and outer
walls rebuilt C17, later rebuilding and alterations include
roof cladding in corrugated asbestos C20. Now of 5 bays with
full-length aisle on N side and 3-bay aisle on S. Quoins.
S side: quoined cart entrance bay 4, opening raised to eaves
height; aisle left has a fine blocked C17 byre door far left
with chamfered quoined jambs, inserted doorway right. East
gable: 3 tiers of slit vents high up, possibly others obscured
by C20 brick lean-to addition.
INTERIOR: 4 trusses composed of full-height posts, some bases
encased in concrete, tie-beams, 1 king-post, 1 V-strut,
principal rafters, aisle plates, straight braces, the S aisle
plate continues over cart entrance. Aisle ties to remains of
aisle plate on N side and 3 timber posts and stone footings of
the N outside wall are visible.
