Inn, now a shop and art gallery. C17 or earlier, altered mid
C19. Painted stucco probably over a timber frame, slate roof
with large external lateral stack to the gabled rear wing.
2-unit through-passage plan with central rear wing and long
C20 two-storey rear right wing.
EXTERIOR: 2 storeys; 2-window range. Late C19 paired
plate-glass sash windows with horns to the first floor, 4-pane
plate-glass shop front to left of ground floor, single-pane
plate-glass window to the right. Central semi-elliptical arch
(possibly a narrow carriageway) over very wide C19 door with 2
rows of 3 panels.
INTERIOR: to the rear right of the former through passage is a
painted stone corbel supporting a chamfered axial beam. The
first floor has a C17 planked screen with ribbed moulding and
chamfered arrises to the projecting planks on both sides.
HISTORY: once known as The Bear Inn.
