Semi-detached pair of houses. Mid C19. Incised stucco to No.21
(left), painted roughcast to No.22 (to the right), slate roof
with 4 moulded diagonally-set shafts to stacks to party wall
and 3 to gable ends, those to the right are plain rendered.
STYLE: Jacobethan.
PLAN: Paired L-plans with rear additions.
EXTERIOR: 2 storeys with attics; symmetrical 4-window range to
the pair, with gabled centre bays making 1:2:1 fenestration.
Paired forward central wings have elaborate Dutch gables with
tall pyramidal finials and panelled pendants. Similar smaller
gables over slightly stepped-forward oriels to the sides have
ball finials. C20 windows to No.22. Blind single-light windows
to the Dutch gables, cross windows to the first floor and
3-light transomed windows to the ground floor.
Single-storey entrance bays with crenellated parapets to the
angles of the projecting central wings.
INTERIOR: not inspected.
Part of the Courtenay Park development, laid out in 1854.
Similar to Nos 19 & 20 (qv), here distinguished by the use of
Jacobean-style shaped gables.
