Circa 1820-30 part of same row as Nos 39 to 49 qv. 3 storeys red brick on high
basement. Stone bands over basement and ground floor; wood frieze and cornice,
later slate mansard attics. 2 windows to upper floors with flat stucco arches,
glazing bars intact to sashes on No 51 later casements to others. 2 storey segmental
bow windows to ground floor and basement, tripartite sashes with glazing bars.
4 panel doors with rectangular fanlights in Greek Doric porches, that of Nos 55
and 57 being double. Double flight of steps up to doors with Victorian cast iron
railings returned to areas. The sea fronts of these houses have 3 storey canted
bays.

All the listed buildings on the East Side, from Nos 31 to 115 (odd), including
Gibson's Hotel, form a group.
