Large house. Late C18. Stucco on brick or rubble; plastered brick chimney shafts;
slate roof. 2 room double depth house with central stair. 2 axial stacks in solid
walls between front and rear rooms. Faces north. 2 storeys. Symmetrical 5 window
front has central door, panelled pilasters on each corner, moulded eaves cornice,
parapet above with dentil cornice and low pitch pediment over central 3 bays, also
with dentil cornice (this cornice breaks forward at the foot of the pediment
indicating that pilasters may once have existed between the windows below. Glazed
C20 door but original round headed fanlight and wooden doorcase comprising fluted
pilasters and open pediment over fan. The ground floor windows are full height
hornless sashes with 6 panes above 9. The first floor has 12 pane sashes. 3 window
east front is similar with flanking pilasters, parapet and pediment, 15 and 12 pane
sashes. Rear 4 window front of 12 pane sashes and door with panelled reveals.
Some original joinery and plasterwork inside including geometric stair; open string
with shaped brackets, stick balusters, mahogony handrail, curtail step and wreathed
scrolls.
