House. Dated 1904. Squared granite rubble with hipped slated roof having lead
rolls to ridge and hips. Tall granite chimneys asymmetrically placed. Double-depth
plan containing an open hall. 2 storeys. Tudor design with gabled projectsions and
stone-mullioned windows, some with hood-moulds. The garden front has 2-storeyed
gabaled porch to right of centre with lateral stack with off-sets to right and large
stone-mullioned hall window to left. At left-hand end is a gabled projection. The
porch doorway is moulded with flat head and hood-mould. Date 1904 is carved on left
side of south-east entrance-porch.
Interior contains a narrow open hall, with Tudor-style panelling, on south-east
side.
Service-wing in similar style to south-west. House originally occupied by the
Bolitho family. Architect said to be E L Lutyens, but there is no evidence to
support this and it is unlikely.
