20.6.84 Mill and Mill House

II

Corn mill and millhouse. Mill C18, house early-mid C19; later additions. Brick in
English garden wall bond. Slate roof. Pantiles to rear of main range. L-shaped mill
of 2 builds with house added on right. House: 2 storeys, 3 bays. Central door
flanked by canted bay windows. Three sashes under segmental brick arches above. End
brick stacks. Mill: 3 storeys, 3 bays, irregular. Gabled left bay the original
building. Segmental-headed cart door to central bay; one later window to right,
otherwise Yorkshire sliding sash windows with glazing bars under segmental brick
arches. Stack of loading doors to left of cart door, the upper one enclosed. Single-
storey, one-bay outbuilding with pantile roof adjoining left end. Left return
elevation: 3 Yorkshire sliding sash windows in left bay of mill, one in right bay
above outbuilding. Two storey lower left addition with end stack. Much of the
machinery survives inside the mill.
