Threshing barn. Possibly C18 or earlier in origin, re-roofed in the C19. Cob on
stone rubble footings; slate roof, half-hipped at left end, hipped at right end.
Large barn, sited on a slope, at right angles to Upcott Barton (q.v.). 2 sets of
opposed doors. The right end may have been used for storage, the left end and centre
for threshing. Single-storey at the left and centre, lofted at the right end. The
front elevation has 2 sets of double doors with cob cheeks. The right hand doorway
has chamfered jambs. Doorway with timber lintel at the right below a loft doorway
with a timber lintel. The rear elevation also has double doors with cheeks; the left
end is rendered with 1 ground floor and 1 first floor window. Loft entrance in left
gable end. Interior C19 roof trusses; cob partition (but not to apex) between
single-storey and lofted sections of barn. An unusually large and complete barn form
ing a fine group with Upcott Barton.
