Cottage. Late C18-early C19 with late C19-early C20 extensions. Plastered cob on
rubble footings, stone rubble extensions; stone rubble stacks topped with C19
brick; thatch roof.
Original cottage comprises a 1-room and entrance lobby plan facing west with
formerly projecting right (south) end stack. Late C19 storage extension on right
end and early C20 single storey block at right angles on front of right end now
used as kitchen. Main block is 2 storeys with symmetrical 2-window front of C20
casements with glazing bars to right of front wing. Central C20 front door. Roof
is hipped each end. Gable-ended front wing has C20 casement and glass door, both
with glazing bars.
Interior shows plain carpentry detail and rubble fireplace has replacement lintel.
Roof not inspected.
Front garden enclosed by low rubble wall which includes a flight of steps down to
the stream on west side.
Cole ford is a remarkably unspoilt and picturesque hamlet.
