Slade House

II

House. Probably early-mid C18, of 2 builds, altered and extended mid C19.
Coursed squared gritstone, graduated stone slate roof. 2-storey, 3-bay main
block with additional bay on left. Main block: quoins; central glazed door
in slightly projecting stone surround. Flanking and first-floor windows: 4-
pane sashes in stone surrounds. Lower part of 2 blocked windows visible
under eaves. Kneeler and gable coping to right, end stacks. Left bay:
quoins, segmental-arched cart-entrance with board double doors, upper window
and blocked window under eaves as main range. Kneeler, gable coping, end
stack left. Interior not inspected. The house facade suggests that it had
an attic storey when built. Refenestration may have taken place when the
left bay was added, the central blocked eaves window being moved to the
left.
