GV II

House. Early C18, altered early C19. Painted coursed limestone
rubble with freestone dressings, quoin to the left and plinth
to the bay; triple-Roman tile roof swept at the eaves; stone
ridge stack with brick shaft to left of centre. 2-unit plan
with rear wing to the right.
EXTERIOR: 2 storeys; 2-window range. Cyma-moulded
stone-mullioned windows to the 1st floor, 3-light to the left
and 2-light to the right, both with C19 plate-glass sash
windows. Below that to the right is a 2/2-pane sash window, to
the far left is a C19 6-panel door glazed to the top in a
plain opening, and to the inside left a projecting slightly
splayed bay has a 3-light shop window with timber mullions,
transom and fascia, possibly early C20.
INTERIOR: not inspected.
SUBSIDIARY FEATURES: attached to the left corner is a low
squared rubblestone wall with chamfered capping and a
chamfered freestone gate pier with a cornice and stepped
pyramidal top, to the front of the Causeway Methodist Church
(qv).
