House with ground floor shop. Mid C19, with C20 alterations.
Stucco front over brickwork, brown stock brickwork, laid to
Flemish bond, with stucco dressings and ground floor to
left-hand (east) flank elevation to Bell Lane. Welsh slated
roof.
EXTERIOR: 3 storeys, 2 bay facade to Fore Street, 7 bays to
Bell Lane subdivided by pilasters as 1:3:3 bays. First floor
has 2 recessed 12-pane sash windows, with frieze and cornice
heads supported on consoles; second floor has 2 recessed
6-pane sashes, with plain frieze and moulded cornice above.
First floor to Bell Lane has stucco pilasters, with caps
matching the band and frieze cornice. 7 first-floor windows
recessed in brick reveals with stucco heads as on Fore Street
elevation and stucco sills; 7 second-floor windows, under
rubbed brick flat arches, with brick reveals and stucco sills.
Plat band at first-floor level covered by shop fascia on
right-hand 3 bays to Bell Lane, and access Fore Street
frontage. Early C20 shopfront, with corner entrance, recessed
behind supporting Tuscan Doric columns raised on tall plinth.
Arcaded timber windows in same general style as on No.16 (qv);
canted fascia with dentils and moulded cornice above. To left
of shopfront on Bell Lane ground floor has 2 recessed 12-pane
sashes, and central arched window, under rubbed brick flat
arch, giving access to rear yard. Rear elevation timber-framed
and stuccoed over brick (partly C20 Fletton) ground floor.
