Aisled barn. C17. Stone rubble, brick dressings, part weatherboarded, part
timber framed, old tile roof. 6 bay aisled barn with pentice lean-tos at
west, single aisle at east. Elevation to farm yard has 4 bay pentice at
north, off-centre pair of car doors, single bay pentice to south. Blocked
door and window openings at north-west below pentice suggest humble domestic
use for cottager or shepherd. Elevation to east has 3 bays of aisle closed
with weatherboarding, 3 bays at south open. Gable roof; part weatherboarded.
Single storey 'L' plan cart sheds and hovels attached at south and west.
INTERIOR: Substantial framed south aisle arcade and roof. 5 main aisle
posts with lateral struts to aisle wall plate, posts jowled at head with
2 lateral struts to aisle tie-beam and tranverse strut to mark the tie-beam.
Simple Queen post struts between ties and principal rafters. Ridgeless
roof with massive pegged staggered butt purlins. Frame largely intact.
