Shop and flat. Late C15, with later alterations.
Timber-framed, with colourwashed brick facade to west and
later flint and brick facing to rear. Pantile roofs,
black-glazed to front.
3 storeys in 3 bays. C20 shop front extends entire width of
facade, with prominent fascia board. 3 recessed 6/6 sashes to
first floor and three 3/3 sashes to second floor. Dentil eaves
cornice and gabled roof. Gable-end stack to south shared with
No.21 (not included). South gable head of gault brick, north
gable wall of breeze blocks following demolition of buildings
late C20. Rear with 2 later narrow outshuts, one applied onto
the previous one: mixed fenestration.
2-storey cross wing runs east from south end under a pantiled
roof. It is of rendered brick, clunch and flint and has,
attached to the east end, a hipped extension in one bay of the
same materials but unrendered. Corrugated asbestos roof. The
east window of this block has a 4-light C18 metal casement
with multiple panes. North side of cross wing with a
breeze-block ground floor and 2 first-floor sashes with 6/6
glazing bars.
INTERIOR: rear cross wing with a 2-bay late C15 crown-post
roof, the centre post missing. Posts are rectangular and plain
with arched braces from the posts to the crown purlins.
Collars and rafters. Ground floor of this wing with chamfered
cruciform bridging beams with tongue stops. Ground floor of
the main front block with cruciform bridging beams elaborately
carved with 3 roll-mouldings separated by stylised twig and
ribbon mouldings.
