Ivybank with boundary wall

GV II

Detached house. Mid C19. Squared rubble with ashlar dressings,
slate roof to clay ridges. L-plan. Wide symmetrical frontage
in 2 storeys, 3-windowed. Margin-pane sashes. Central C19
gabled glazed porch with 6-panel door to right, covering a
pair of glazed doors with overlight. Single bay returns. At
back a C20 extension with 16-pane sashes. Low pitched hipped
roof to box eaves; brick stacks to rear. Interior not
inspected. Subsidiary features: a boundary wall c 2.2m hight
comes in left from a gate pier in Incline Road (qv), then
reduces to c 1.2m in squared rubble to a weathered capping
across width of house; wide garage opening, then short length
to right, incorporating boundary stone (qv). Included for
group value, as part of a good group of buildings including
the church, school and former prison (q.q.v.).
