7/61 Grotto, 150 yards to south of
Claverton Manor

Grotto. Probably c.1820 (but possibly earlier). Central niche, with ashlar
voussoirs and impost band; set in wall approximately 12 feet high and constructed
of irregular, weathered stones; moulded cornice and blocking course. The niche
has a carved shell set into the upper part; lion's mask water spout to lower
part. Square projecting plinth and basin.
