Pair of houses. Mid to late C18, with some minor early to mid C20 alterations.
Rendered over stone rubble to ground floor and cob to first floor. Gable-ended
Welsh-slate roof (probably formerly thatched). Rendered brick stacks.
Plan: Pair of cottages, larger left-hand one of 2 rooms with central entrance and
staircase and axial end stack to right, and 1-room plan house to right with integral
end stack to right. House probably formerly with end stack to left too, possibly
truncated (see new tiles in roof) when passageway inserted at left-hand end. 2
storeys.
Exterior: Asymmetrical 5-bay front; C18 boxed 12-pane glazing bar sashes, with
central ground-floor C18 16-pane glazing bar sash. Inserted C20 flat-roofed canted
bay window to left (formerly shop window). C20 half-glazed margin-light door in
second bay from left and C20 half-glazed door in second bay from right. Inserted
boarded door to passageway at left-hand end. Ground-floor C18 glazing bar sash to
rear of left-hand house.
Interior: Left-hand house undergoing internal alterations at time of survey
(September 1987). C19 fireplace in right-hand room, and seat in window to rear.
Staircase taken out at time of survey. Blocked doorway to right of doorway (see
straight joints exposed inside at time of survey).
