GV II

Farmhouse now house. Mid C18 double pile house. Front mainly
black brick headers with red brick chainage, other elevations
brick or coursed stone rubble. Hipped tiled roof with C20
central hipped dormer. 2 storeys, attics and basement; 3
windows. Casements in cambered head linings, all except
central one 3-light. Brick modillion cornice and band between
floors. Central doorcase with flat wooden hood on brackets and
6 panelled door. 3 stone steps. Left side elevation of coursed
stone rubble with deep plinth, perhaps the remaining wall of
an earlier house. Right side elevation of brick in English
bond with 2 windows. Attached to rear is a 1 storeyed brick
brewhouse on stone plinth with brick chimneystack and roof now
covered in corrugated iron. In existence by 1774 when the farm
was valued with the following description: "A very good New
built House with a Barn, 2 Stables, 2 Carthouses, a very good
granary and a garden" IWCRO ACC 80/31
