Black Horse Public House

II

Public house. Mid C18. Plastered and colourwashed flint,
clunch and brick. Roofs of black-glazed pantiles. L-shaped
plan, with a rear range running south-east down Melford Bridge
Road. Facade of 2 storeys in 3 bays. Central 6-panelled door
under a narrow 3-vaned fanlight and an open pediment on
consoles. C19 canted bay to left and a 2-light C19 cross
casement right. Three C19 two-light casements to first floor.
Dentil eaves cornice under gabled roof. Internal gable-end
stacks. Rear wing with C20 details to ground floor and three
2-light first-floor casements. Roof hipped to south-east.
INTERIOR: Brewers' Tudor style. Ground-floor rooms opened into
one. Boxed bridging beams.
